Sexy Costumes - Where Can I Wear Them?

With so many sexy costumes on the market and so many women wearing them the inevitable question is where can I wear a sexy costume? While the safe answer is "it depends", let's lay down some general rules to guide you and hopefully avoid some likely pitfalls.

Work: Many places of employment have Halloween parties or other occasions where a costume is required or allowed. Avoid the temptation to wear a sexy anything much less a costume to a work related event. The reasons will become apparent at the event or the day after and the damage is done. Sexy costumes are generally short, tight and revealing and these are all things that don't have a place in a work environment. But, you say, everyone is cool where I work and they are all wearing costumes. Great, dress up as a cat and wear a mask or have a friend use makeup to create the illusion of a cat face. Wear a costume to show that you like to have fun and enjoy yourself but don't forget that you want your co-workers and superiors to view you as an equal, not a sex object. Wearing a sexy costume in the environment where a boss or co-workers see you in suggestive clothing may cause some at work to question your judgment or even worse your morals. Work is work and a party is a party. Don't do it!

Bars: OK, but be sure you are in a group of friends and know your level of tolerance before you step out the door. Know what your girlfriends are wearing and don't be the hit of this party. Night clubs and bars are a perfect place to let down your hair, look hot and have a great time. But you don't want to be constantly pulling up your stockings, popping out of your top and showing off your panties, so be prepared. Ask yourself a couple of questions along the lines of; am I going to have a good time dressed like this? You notice I didn't ask "Am I going to look great in this outfit"? Most men will agree a woman in a short skirt, stockings, a pair of high heels and a skimpy top is hot, but is that same girl having fun? Stockings generally need garter belts to hold them up and although stay up stockings work, they weren't really made for a girl dancing for 3-4 hours, perspiring and getting up and into night club booths. High heels make a woman's legs look awesome but they aren't made for dancing, at least not longer than 10-15 minutes. Finally consider wearing ruffle panties if your panties show under the costume that way you don't really care who sees them as they are meant to be seen. Also be sure you know the atmosphere of the bar or nightclub you are visiting. Is it upscale with plenty of security? Is it a dive with a bunch of gap toothed hooligans in attendance? Considering what you are wearing you may want to steer clear of the roadhouse where 3 people were shot last weekend. You can always go there next weekend.

Private Parties: Absolutely! While you need to ask yourself the same questions as above, private parties are after all private and as long as you know some of the party goers, all should go well. Lets face it some people are exhibitionists and once a year it is ok to be naughty and a party at someone's home is the perfect place to be naughty and cute in a safe environment where men won't get the wrong idea or if they do they are unlikely to act out in an inappropriate manner. Encourage your friends to dress "up" as you will look less like a spectacle than just another party goer wanting to have fun. A sorority or group of girls looking hot is preferable to one girl looking out of place and trashy. Also consider changing into your costumes at the party to avoid the coming and going problems. In all situations have your boyfriend or a boy friend along for the fun as you are going to look awesome. Although you are old enough to wear these costumes so you know not to drink too much and never drink and drive. Alcohol is a great equalizer and loosens inhibitions but don't forget what you are wearing. Men are clever devils and getting their attention is fun and exciting but there is nothing worse than a guy or a girl at a party drinking too much. While this is true of any party at any location, the added ingredient is your "costume".

Parties for two: Of course, what have you been waiting for? Role playing parties are fun and costumes are a requirement. The selection of costumes for intimate parties are growing and may be what you need although many sexy costumes can and do work in both situations. Some manufacturers offer "bedroom" costumes as well as costumes that can be worn in public. The bedroom costumes are often sheer, skimpier than their sexy costume cousins and less expensive. You decide what works best for you!

Wherever you go have fun but don't forget that you are going to see some or all of those people in the future and impressions can have a lasting effect. Adult Halloween parties are a perfect opportunity to be naughty. You can and should look hot but not cheap and trashy. What is the difference? Modesty is the key and you should maintain it at all times. Wear accessories that cover you up with something left to the imagination. Ruffle panties are full coverage and not particularly daring. Petticoats add length and fullness to your costume. Stockings are a great way to cover your legs and keep you warm late in October. Have an alternate costume just in case things don't go as planned. Often girls agree to dress in costumes that are revealing and risky and inevitably someone doesn't show up, or chickens out and either doesn't' wear a costume or wears a less revealing costume. Also you may be going to multiple places that evening and what works in one party may be completely inappropriate in another.

Don't forget that it gets cool or downright cold depending on where you live in late October and wear appropriate jackets or sweaters. Dressing up in costume is a great experience but don't forget some of the old stand bys that allow you to really make that costume special. Consider buying a wig to change your look altogether. You will be surprised how different you look as a blonde, brunette or redhead. Also try wearing a mask all night and you will definitely be the mystery girl. There are plenty of masks that simply cover your eyes with feather trim or jewels. Bring a prop like a special handbag to match your outfit or a toy gun if you are a gangster girl. Many costumes include them but think about what will make your outfit special. If you are escorted by a boyfriend or husband or even just a good friend make them dress up as well. While men are less likely to want to dress up let them know it is alright for a man to dress up in costume and that you would really appreciate it if they did.
